You will integrate material from the selected peer-reviewed articles to support your purpose, and do so in no more than one page. Further, you must cite your sources with a minimum of two sources cited in each instance in 80% of all instances. This means that you may have instances in which you have one reference cited for a specific idea, but those instances cannot exceed 20% of all citations throughout the paper. The aim of these assignments is to get you to learn how to write like an academic. Academics cite ideas instead of discussing single articles one by one. Our ideas are derived from reviewing multiple articles and therefore, we must cite all articles that have contributed in any way to how we perceive an issue. Citing articles one by one in a serial fashion is 100% unacceptable at this level (see Canvas for an example of what I call serial citing). Moreover, the tight constraints of grant writing leave little room to delve too deeply into any one article. These assignments are therefore an important step in successful grant and manuscript writing.
As noted, you must complete each of these assignments in no more than one page. You must also double space the document and use Arial 11 – point font (half inch margins all around). References must be cited numerically, superscripted and exactly behind punctuation (no space between the punctuation and the number), and listed in order of first presentation on a separate reference page (see Canvas sample). No cover page is needed; no abstract is needed. Your name must appear in the upper right-hand corner, along with the date. Of course, you will have a separate REFERENCES page with the word REFERENCES centered and in Bold.
