For your final essay, you will take what you know about the issue explored in your annotated bibliography and compose an argumentative essay that takes a reasoned stand on the issue in question. The essay should be well-researched and argued but also engaging, and it should reflect your familiarity with the central concepts in They Say/ I Say. That is, you should imagine and represent respectfully a “they say,” and you should offer a stance that goes beyond a simple dichotomy (pro/con), attempting to persuade or convince even those who are opposed to your basic perspective. Your argumentative essay could also take the form of a proposal/solution paper, so you could argue for specific action that your audience should take to address and solve the issue.
You must have at least five sources for your final essay. Two of your sources must be
scholarly. You are not required to use the article from They Say I Blog as a source for this paper. I expect you to use the research from your annotated bibliography, but if you need additional sources that would help you make your argument, you may do so.
