Overview: During this session, we will discuss the details of whole DNA methylome analysis of the human genome. Specific sequencing platforms, such as Illumina’s Infinium EPIC DNA methylome array, which is capable of defining more than 700,000 unique methylation marks across the human genome, will be discussed. The basic biology of bi-sulfite DNA methylation sequencing will be reviewed. In addition, new advances in DNA methylation analysis, such as MIRA technology will be introduced. Microbiome sequencing of microbes such as bacteria will be discussed. The importance of 16 S ribosomal RNA sequencing and analysis for defining microbial biodiversity will be reviewed.
