Create a plan for teaching communication skills using strategies that will lead to proficiency in the Speaking and Listening CCSS for your subject/grade level. The strategies should include grouping selections that lead diverse learners to master various communication skills needed to meet the standards. (See the online reading NYS p-12 Next Generation Standards for ELA and Literacy K-5 pages 32-34 6-12 pages 62-64.)
Your plan should be submitted in a form that is most user friendly for your purpose (ie., table, checklist, narrative, etc.). It needs to include:
Each standard for Speaking and Listening and at least one communication skill that is needed to help meet each standard
Description of the strategy needed to facilitate the teaching of each skill
Grouping selections chosen for each of the strategies
Justifications for your grouping selections
A concluding narrative of the expected impact of using grouping strategies on your students and how you will evaluate mastery of the communication skills. (Note: you could use your group processing tool from last week’s SAR assignment as an assessment.)
