The 2007-2009 financial crisis was the most intense period of global financial strains since the Great Depression, and it resulted in a deep and prolonged global economic recession. The Federal Reserve took extraordinary actions to help stabilize the U.S. economy and financial system. These actions included reducing short-term interest rates to near zero. The Federal Reserve purchased large quantities of longer-term Treasury securities and longer-term securities issued or guaranteed by government-sponsored agencies to reduce longer-term interest rates. Low interest rates were supposed to help households and businesses finance new spending and help support the prices of other assets, such as stocks and houses.
The research paper will be due on July 14, 2019. A 10 page (excluding appendices, table of contents, abstract, reference, and bibliography) research paper (case study) is required.
